The Sunday Times publishes a detailed article about the rebirth of the luxury real estate market in the city

MARBELLA: Things are starting to move in the real estate market in Marbella, at least in the higher priced end of the market. That is the conclusion reached by the Sunday Times, the British Sunday newspaper with the greatest readership amongst those of a certain quality, which has dedicated a three-page article this week to the rebirth of the city in which investors are notably from Russia, China and the Middle East.

The article, which quotes real estate agencies who are specialized in the international market, underlines the expectations held by potential buyers from these countries regarding the possibility of gaining residency in Spain, granted on the condition of acquiring a residential property for at least half a million euros.

The report, which assures that the actor George Clooney has purchased a villa in Marbella to the tune of some four million euros, maintains that Marbella is now recuperating “after going through a bad patch”, and also states that those real estate agencies that traditionally worked with British buyers have had to adapt to a new situation in which those clients with greatest purchasing power come from a much wider range of countries. According to those quoted, the high level of health services, and others, offered in Marbella act like magnets when it comes to attracting those clients with high spending capacity.

Dynamics

According to the author of the report, Zoe Dare Hall (a journalist specialized in real estate issues) “this rebirth has a lot to do with the dynamics applied by the Mayoress Ángeles Muñoz, who had inherited a bitter cup of grief”.

The newspaper also makes reference to the big projects that the city has in the pipeline, for example, the extension of the railway or the amazing project for the port of La Bajadilla.
