If you are looking for a property in this area, you should consider the main areas of Guadalmina Alta and Guadalmina Baja, Nueva Alcántara, Alta Vista (also Linda Vista) and San Pedro Playa. Take a tour round with your real estate agent to get a “feel” for not only the neighbourhoods, but also for an idea of closeness to amenities, schools, social and cultural spots and events, etc.
Keep an eye on the MP Dunne Properties Blog as we will soon be publishing information on Marbella schools and social and cultural events in the Marbella area!
San Pedro Patron Saint Feast Day
As with all Spanish towns and cities, each has a Patron Saint Feast Day. San Pedro de Alcántara´s is celebrated on 19 October and the San Pedro Fair usually starts around the 15th of the month and lasts for a week.
The town comes alive with bright lights, bunting and firework displays, and the people dress themselves up in flamenco costumes and sing and dance to celebrate the Patron Saint. This is a great opportunity to take part in the local culture while enjoying the traditional fare of wine and tapas from the street vendors.

San Pedro de Alcantara Fair 2013
It is a week full of celebration and activity, with something for all: the young and the younger!! Highly coloured floats with huge puppet-type heads and figures are on parade; Andalousian horses file and step gracefully together through the streets; exhibitions, shows and contests are set up; games are organised for the children; the youth of the town flood into the fairground to enjoy the amusements and the “scene”; firework displays hold everyone in awe; and some special names from the music world are invited to perform and impress everyone! And, before the Fair is officially closed, the statue of the Patron Saint is carried through the town for all to see, and a special Mass takes place in his honour.
