Discover the amazing secret gardens of this unique Marbella home
From the outside it appears to be an ordinary home, but behind the high walls lies a tropical paradise to surprise and delight…
It’s only a few minutes’ drive from central Marbella, but step into the grounds of this home in Cascada de Camojan and you are transported to the heart of Asia. The owners have meticulously recreated a tropical paradise replete with exotic palms and plants, a network of pools, water features and stunning Balinese-style structures.
“The grounds are more like those of a five-star spa resort than a family home,” says Julie Ann Davies, Sales and Listings Consultant from MP Dunne Properties. “We have never seen anything quite like it in Marbella before; it’s simply unique.”
The owners purchased the six-bedroom property 12 years ago. Soon after, they obtained an adjacent plot, taking the total grounds up to 10,000 square feet. The couple, who are from Russia, had a dream to build an exotic retreat where they could relax and entertain friends. With a growing family, they also wanted it be a haven for their children to play in.
They decided upon a Balinese-style for the outdoor buildings, made from natural materials to sit in complete harmony with the environment. Balinese buildings are characterised by their use of thatch roofing, bamboo poles, woven bamboo, coconut wood, teak wood, brick and stone.
The main building is designed to be the ultimate chill out space, with a cool and comfortable TV room, a fully equipped bar, outside dining area, large sundeck and also a gym. You would be forgiven for thinking you were in a luxury spa, and indeed the current owners have enjoyed bringing in massage therapists to give them treatments in the comfort of their own home.
Meanwhile, perched above the pool is an open-sided Bali hut with a card table, where the owners drink cocktails and play cards in the evening.
Like the buildings, the pools have been designed to blend into the landscape. They resemble natural lagoons, with running water and there’s even a waterfall-like stone slide!
The buildings, gardens and pools are linked together with wooden steps and a beautiful rope-sided bamboo bridge. Other areas of the gardens feature a full selection of outdoor gym equipment and there is also a sundeck with Jacuzzi, attached to the house itself.
If you wish to swim a few lengths, there is a second pool and adjacent pool house. This contemporary-style building contains a changing area, bathroom and also a relaxation area.
Says Julie Ann: “This home is a one-off. I think it would be ideal for someone who has a young family because it’s just magical for children. It’s also perfect for someone who lives a busy life and wants to come and relax and enjoy the fantastic Marbella weather.
“It’s a hidden gem, offering tranquillity and privacy, but still only five minutes from the fun and excitement of central Marbella and Puerto Banus.”
