Overseas Buyers Now Account for 20% of the purchases in Spain
New figures just released from the Central Statistics of the Notaries in Spain show that Overseas buyers now account for 20% of the total purchases of Spanish property in Spain. The figures just released for the first six months of 2016 indicate that 43.519 operations which is a 161.2% INCREASE since the lowest figures registered in the second semester of 2008 which only had 16.658 transactions. This is a historic record in Spanish property transactions by overseas buyers.
BRITISH, FRENCH, and GERMAN buyers are by far the highest numbers with the British at 19%, French at 8% and Germans a close third at 7,8%. The rest are spread between Swedish/Norwegians, other European nationalities and Russian buyers.
50,5% of the buyers are Non residents and the other 49,5 are residents. Good news for us! Despite Brexit the Spanish property market is still performing very well and moving forwards.
What is also clear is that in Andalucía we have would appear to have mainly British and Swedish buyers according to these figures.
However that is not completely true we have a predominance of British buyers but the Marbella Luxury Property market has buyers from all over the world.
The prices paid by overseas buyers has gone up by 2.3% over the year and it is suggested that this is due to the non residents buyers as the price paid by residents has not had any variation.
With many Northern European buyers coming particularly from countries like Belgium and Switzerland we have an International mix of clients who are looking to buy a second home in the Marbella area or a holiday home to get away and enjoy the wonderful climate and get a piece of the famous Marbella lifestyle.
