Marbella Golden Mile

Welcome to Marbella Golden Mile, where it all began for Marbella – the glamour and sophisticated luxury lifestyle epicentre.
The Marbella Golden Mile is home to some of the most luxurious and sought-after properties in Southern Spain.

The Ultimate Area Guide to Marbella Golden Mile Property

The Golden Mile is the most exclusive area in Marbella, comprising a series of residential developments along the coastline between Marbella and Puerto Banús to its west. Its beachfront location in the luxury resort town of Marbella makes it one of the most desirable locations in Europe.

What is the Marbella Golden Mile?

Marbella’s Golden Mile is an address that evokes an immediate sense of exclusivity and prestige. Situated in the heart of Marbella, this celebrated stretch of prime coastal land covers approximately four miles from the western edge of Marbella city to the marina of Puerto Banús. It’s not just an address; it’s a lifestyle, a benchmark in luxury that has captivated an international clientele for over 60 years, and continues to represent the focus of major prestigious projects and luxury branded developments in Spain.

Beyond the ideal Mediterranean lifestyle, the Golden Mile (La Milla de Oro) also delivers on daily convenience. International schools like Swans and Aloha College are within easy reach, alongside high-end clinics, organic grocers, and private services that cater to a global clientele. The Old Town of Marbella is also just around the corner to enjoy the historic beauty of this picturesque town centre and it´s authentic tapas, restaurants and bars. Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport is under an hour away – making travel efficient and effortless. It’s a setting where relocating doesn’t feel like starting over – it feels like upgrading.

Where is the Marbella Golden Mile located?

The original Golden Mile of Marbella is the beachfront area from the western edge of Marbella centre and Puerto Banús, with the Marbella Club Hotel at its centre – an elegant, palm-lined eight km-long boulevard housing some of the coast´s most exclusive properties, beautiful beaches, luxury shopping and iconic hotels. About 40 minutes west of Malaga airport, and just over one hour east of Gibraltar airport, you have many options for arriving.

As Marbella expanded, so did the Golden Mile to encompass a triangle extennding to the areas behind the original Golden Mile, incorporating locations such as Sierra Blanca, Cascada de Camoján, Nagüeles, Lomas del Marbella Club, and the Marbella Hill Club.

A World of Luxury on the Marbella Golden Mile

The Golden Mile of Marbella is often considered the Beverly Hills of Europe. With Marbella´s fabulous local climate, visitors and residents can enjoy the relaxing and leisurely environment for which it is renowned.

Marbella Golden Mile is the home of the world-famous Marbella Club Hotel, the Puente Romano complexes, and Nobu Hotel- which all have stylish beach and pool clubs that are open all year round. These are complemented by a diverse range of high-end dining, Michelin-starred restaurants, cafes, boutique designer shops, and nightlife, making the Golden Mile the place for a luxury lifestyle.

It follows that properties in Marbella Golden Mile include some of the most sought-after real estate in Europe – from beachfront estates to apartments and everything in between. Fabulous beaches, lush greenery, and many other luxury amenities make life on the Golden Mile unique.

The Marbella Golden Mile Lifestyle

Marbella´s Golden Mile isn´t just a location, it´s a way of life. Days begin slowly here with a morning run along the promenade or a quiet espresso at Cappuccino, where familiar faces and understated elegance set the tone. Wellness is part of the daily rhythm, not a weekend pursuit. Pilates at Puente Romano, a swim before breakfast, or a spa session in the afternoon – residents prioritise balance and beauty in equal measure. It’s a lifestyle built around presence, natural beauty, privacy, and refined simplicity.

Afternoons unfold with ease, whether over a long lunch at Nobu or browsing curated boutiques in the shade of tropical gardens. Socialising is spontaneous yet selective – cocktails at La Plaza, art events, or intimate dinners that stretch into the evening. Here, luxury is not loud; it’s in the details, the service, the surroundings. The Golden Mile lifestyle is not about having time – it’s about knowing how to live it well and access to the best of Marbella.

As the sun dips behind the Sierra Blanca, the energy shifts. Early evenings often begin with an apéritif at La Plaza or on a private terrace overlooking the sea. Dinner might follow at Bibo or Lobito de Mar – always elegant, never excessive. The social scene here leans toward private gatherings, art showings, and low-key luxury events. Prestige is felt in the atmosphere, not displayed for effect.

The best of Marbella

Peaceful, private, exclusive and yet close to all amenities, the Golden Mile offers the best of Marbella – each in terms of lifestyle, location and the homes it offers. However, in addition to prime beachside properties, it also offers luxurious villas and apartments on the inland side of the boulevard. Immersed in rich green grounds, enjoying the backdrop of the Mediterranean and the mountains, the Golden Mile offers a level of luxury, style and comfort that is matched only by the privacy, security and views of their location.

Marbella Golden Mile, beach view

The residential areas of the upper Golden Mile follow the gentle slope of the land to provide mountain and sea views from their elevated positions, still within easy reach of the centre and coast. Here, amid beautifully manicured private gardens and exclusive communal grounds, you will find a wide variety of appealing architectural styles, interior layouts, and amenities in both new and older communities and complexes.

What is so special about the Golden Mile of Marbella?

The Golden Mile is strategically located to offer the best of Marbella. To the east, it’s anchored by the historic and charming Marbella Old Town. To the west, it reaches the glamorous Puerto Banús, known for its luxury yachts, designer boutiques, and vibrant nightlife. This prime location provides residents with diverse lifestyle options, from cultural explorations to high-end shopping and dining.

As a result, the Golden Mile is not only Marbella’s most famous address but also one of the most distinguished in Europe. And how could it not be, for this beautiful avenue lined with palm trees and parks connects Marbella town with the glamorous yacht harbour and millionaire’s playground of Puerto Banús.

Along the coastal side is a privileged strip housing some of the most luxurious homes on the Mediterranean – an impressive collection of exquisite seaside villas, mansions and penthouse apartments with direct access to a long, sandy beach overlooking yachts that drop anchor here.

The Golden Mile has a distinctly exclusive atmosphere, from the elegant coastal path that fringes it to the trendy beach clubs of the legendary Marbella Club and Puente Romano resort hotels. When properties in these areas come onto the market, they are snapped up by a discerning international clientele seduced by its fantastic location and prestigious address.

A Legacy of Glamour: The History & Fame of the Golden Mile

This exclusive area of Marbella Golden Mile has a glamorous history, beginning in the 1950s with an aristocrat named Prince Alfonso von Hohenlohe. He decided to convert his family estate into an upmarket hotel that became the Marbella Club, attracting friends and family of jet-setters, the rich and famous from all over Europe.

The Golden Mile earned its name thanks to this golden era, when legendary parties were held here. These were the original international ‘jet-set’ film stars and royalty. People like Sean Connery, James Hunt, Liz Taylor, Bridget Bardot, and anyone who was anyone were to be found in the Marbella Club. Audrey Hepburn and her husband, Mel Ferrer, had one of their favourite homes within the original Santa Margarita part of the Marbella Club.

The photographs of these mythical times are displayed to good effect on the Marbella Club Hotel grounds and patio areas.

The Heart of the Golden Mile

The Marbella Club Hotel, established around 1953 by Prince Alfonso Hohenlohe, lies at the very heart of this famous stretch which became the centre of social life for the “Jet Set” in the 1960´s and the home of some of Spain and Europe´s most wealthy families. Today still you will see famous international faces in the shops and restaurants of this hot spot. The area is very exclusive and commands higher prices, with some Golden Mile beachfront properties exchanging hands for many millions, and it boasts some of the most impressive Golden Mile villas and estates on the Costa del Sol.

The Marbella Golden Mile is divided into two parts by a motorway that runs through it. Along the motorway are strings of business centres, five-star hotels (including the Marbella Club Hotel mentioned above, and also the famous Puente Romano Hotel), golf course and other services. The beachside of the motorway is fully developed, while on the mountain side there are some areas that are still undergoing development or that offer brand new complexes with properties yet to be occupied. Investment opportunities in this area include properties with spectacular views of mountain and sea.

Upper Golden Mile Communities

From most of these communities, you can be at the beach promenade within a comfortable 10-minute walk, where you can enjoy the cafes, “chiringuitos” and hotels, or go for a pleasant stroll or jog and even stop off at one of the “outdoor gym” spots for a bit of toning up!

Due to the areas vibrancy and plethora of lifestyle options, properties here are highly sought after- full of activity and things to do, see and watch, yet you can choose to live a short distance away and enjoy a quieter lifestyle, while popping in to see what is going on from time to time.
